The next best craw bait
I have been using some baits, this last 2 years, from a small company called Minda Baits. There plastic baits are an interesting design with a large spear shape. I have seen some impresive catchs with these baits. This year, they introduced a craw bait to the line up. It's a large bait that is quite a bit different than any other craw on the market. The claws are the flat spear shape of their worms. The action can only be described as a subtle glide that displaces a lot of water. The first time i saw the bait, I was not very impressed. I couldn't see beyond my human perception of what I thought of as a craw. I'm very glad that I used them in spite of my first thought, or I would have missed out on some of the biggest bass i caught this year. This Minda craw flat out catchs the biggest bass around, but it will also catch numbers of smaller bass as well. It doesn't work every time I use it, But it works often enough that I always try it. Tony, aka tavery5, was fishing with me yesterday and was very interested in the Minda baits I showed him, so I decided that the rest of you might be as well. The best hook I have found for these baits is a 5/0 screw lock toad style hook. The point is texposed and the bait will last for numerous catchs without getting torn up. Here is a link to the Mind baits site.
