I don't know this guy ( my bil does) but this is cool.
Elliston native plays role in record catch ![]() One of the key players in the catch was George Cecil (right), a native of Elliston who lives on the Outer Banks now and works as a fishing mate on The Sea Breeze with charter captain Ned Ashby (left). Not to downplay the efforts of the guy who cranked this fish in and will now get his name in the record books, as that was 2 1/2 hours of serious work, but these two guys are the ones who made this record possible. One of my co-workers just came by and said when he showed his son the story this morning the son thought it was an April Fool’s joke. No joke. And, to answer the question I got from a reader earlier about what they did with this fish, it’s pretty simple: They ate it. Or, at least, are eating it. Cecil said they got about 500 pounds of meat off this giant. At $10 a pound (which is conservative), this is one offshore trip that was well worth the investment.
