Default Strange bass day

Good Morning!
MrsT and I have been on vacation this week and fished most days.
It was an off & on kinda week.
Thursday, I decided we'd hit a reservoir that we stumbled upon last year where we were hitting some bass and some crazy pickerel.
Figured with just the trolling motor, and that we each had a day that we got skunked this week, this would be a sure bet. Fair amount of weeds, average depth 10' with one area up to 20'.

I was using a red 5" worm, & had some little hits (likely perch and sunfish). Finally got a decent hit and the worm came back missing half his tail. No worries though, the pickerel will hit just about anything, so I kept tossing the same 'new and improved' worm. Tossed it in the same spot a couple more times and hooked him! Got him into the boat and it was a rainbow trout Nice fish, about 12" long. Would have been dinner had I brought something to put him in, but wasn't planning on keeping any Bass or Pickerel.

OK, change tactic. Put on a rooster tail and tossed it a few times...WHAM Finally, I've hooked a bass...Nope, another trout, even bigger than the last one!

Didn't get much of anything after that, just a nice day on the water with the Mrs. Watched Mr. Crane fishing a little while, & had a visit from a doe with a fawn tagging along (grass is too high to see the fawn)

& that's my day of 'easy bass/pickerel fishing'
