Yes, is the simple answer to your question. Regardless of what level of fishing you get into you will have an investment. Rod, reel, line, bait, transportation, are essentials, then you start with other items like tackle bags, lure assortment, stringer, sun glasses, the list goes on and on. The important thing to remember is that for most of us this is just a recreational activity, some of us take it very serious and choose to participate at a high level , others choose to approach it with a much more casual attitude, neither is right or wrong. I have said it before and I will say it again, GET IN WHERE YOU FIT IN and don't worry what anyone else is doing. It's all about fun, so have some.
