My boat just has the standard Perko latches that have a plastic body so I think that they could be broken fairly easily. I'm thinking of making some type of a deadbolt type system. There's no dispute that the Perko latches need to be stronger. Keeping them out is definitely better than just letting you know when they haven't been kept out. However, unless your boat deck is made of steel (unlikely ) a determined thief and a good crowbar can break into just about anything. I think a shock sensor connected to a recording of an angry Rottweiler would be nice.
