well i just got back from our tuesday night tournament my club does every week. its an open tournament but hardly ever attracts ppl bc theres a bigger tournament elsewhere on tuesdays. anyway this is the first time ive gotten to fish this tournament, its on our home lake that i fish every night but i have still yet to find out how to catch the keepers (over 14 inches). the president of the club has been helping me and had shown me a spot that he and another guy had sunk christmas trees. i pulled up and cranked it for what seemed like forever, nothin, go to another spot for a while decide that im not gettin anywhere then i go back to the trees.. crank away... nothin. ive never really used a jig much but decided id try a green pumpkin chigger craw (works good on our lake) on a jig.. i lack having many jigs but i had a pb and j football head 1/2 oz in my box so i rig up, 2nd pitch im dragging across the tops of the trees and my line starts heading right for the boat, as it goes under the boat i slam the hook in a 2.8lb bass i was so pumped that its like i completely forgot how to fish after that. thats all it took to win and i knew thats all it would take. me and my partner ( a catfisherman that has no idea how to bass fish) won 45 bux a piece. cost 15 to enter.. no its not much money and there was only 1 other boat fishing against us but its still my first win and its the boost in confidence i need to do good at the club tournament saturday.
