Not knowing what to expect after two storms rolled through our area yesterday afternoon and last night, I went out with 9 rods rigged and ready for about anything. Turned out I only needed 4 rod, lol. My first bass came off a LC Popper. That was the only surface action I had all day. The next 3 bass came off the spinnerbait Secret Santa gave me recently. But after 9AM there was NO bass to be found in shallow water. Bright blue skies and a front drove them into deeper water. From then on, all the rest were caught on crankbaits. Using a Strike King 3XD, StrikeKing KVD Squarebill 1.2, Strike King Series 5, and a LC 2.5 Squarebill, I caught 15 in total, although non of them were more than 1 1/2 pounds. I caught 3 that were about the size of a large cigar! I call those Monica bass.
I did have one real nice one on my StrikeKing 3XD that Secret Santa gave me, but it came unbuttoned before I could see it. The storms didnt seem to have any effect on the fishing. But the front did. But working deeper water with cranks got some action. I did have an accident today. I impaled my finger with a treble hook from my LC popper. The point burried itself nearly all the way through my finger. So I forced it through the rest of the way, snipped off the barb, and slid it back out. My first time for ever doing that, and I hope, my last! I did land a nice 20 pound anchor though! In perfect condition too! Brought that home with me. You can see the lure I snagged the anchor rope with. It's one of my favorite crankbaits. StrikeKing Series 5 in Citris Shad. So glad I didn't loose it. Getting those hooks out of the rope is gonna be fun though. Ok, that my report for the day. Time to order pizza!
