I fished all spring and early summer with moderate success, but I haven't been able to get on the water much since, till last week when a buddy called and said he'd tore them up on a river down south, and wanted to know if I wanted in on the action?.....Well, I jumped at the opportunity and last Wednesday he picked me up, and I got to fish the "Little River" in SW Arkansas. Its the main river that feeds Millwood lake....A lake known for trophy bass in Arkansas....And let me tell ya, its a beautiful fishery.
Well to make a long story short, we killed'em that day too....The White bass were running and hitting hard....Every fish was 2lb or better, and we filled a livewell in no time and released everything else that day.....It was one of those days where you go home with your shoulder and wrist aching from setting the hook on hard hitting fish. ![]() Well, today we went back.....And believe it or not, we killed'em again. Unreal. I don't know how many white and black bass we caught today cause we both lost count...lol. We caught alot more largemouths today then last week, and many were 3-5 lbs. Sandbass were still hitting hard, but so were the blackbass. Air temps were mid 20s when we hit the water at about 9am, and water temps were low to mid 50's all day, with water clarity of 3-4 ft under bright sunny skies. I don't see many fishing trips like these, so I think I've had a smile on my face for a solid week now, and it may carry on a bit longer now if you know what I mean?...lol. If I never caught another fish this year, I've now had a great year. But, the year ain't over yet, and just for fun, we may go back again next week and try again... ![]()
