FL Bassin Using Ohio River Tactics
8 of us showed up to fish a Tuesday tournament on Lake Rousseau here in FL. Forecast was winds 10-20 with gusts to 30, rain, & dropping temps. Guess the forecast scared many away. Come on.... it was 46 at 0645 & by the end of the tournament at 1300 it was 60. The winds were coming in off the Gulf so it was breezy & Rousseau has as many stumps as you have blades of grass in your yards.
I was the last one in and noticed there were only 3 guys remaining. Yeah it had turned nasty but but that's why they sell rain suits. I started out with a devils horse searching for a big bite. After 2 hrs of zig zaging & changing locations & numerous baits I grabbed my 8# test spinning rod with a 1/16 oz worm weight & Zoom Red Shad finesse worm. The largest I caught weighed 3.1 & the other 4 together weighed 5.5# giving me a total of 8.6 lbs.....So much for FL big bass. But it was enough to win. I used this rig fishing the Ohio River to top out a limit of squeaker spots & largemouth dozens of times. Don't get me wrong....I also use 65# braid & 1.5 oz tungsten flippin & pitchin. Tuesday the small stuff worked. If you want to see larger bass & the approximate locations where caught in Florida go here. http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/f...h#.UuBDSxAo601 |
