Well, the fishing has been a little off and on this week. The high pressure and the coming of the full moon may have something to do with this. Every time the high pressure takes over the state the fishing has suffered. The mornings have been warm and the fish have bit some mornings and not so well on others. There has been a little top water action on the Pop’r type baits. The Wave Tiki Stick fished weightless has been good over the grass. The Carolina and Texas Rigs have been good with Lake Fork Tackle Baby Ring Fries, Twitch worms, Zoom French Fries, and 7 inch worms have been good. Work the points, grass beds, humps and roadbeds with the above mentioned baits. Crank baits in various sizes are working in and around the grass and timber. Wacky worms and flukes are working around the grass.
The water level is dropping every day with no rain in sight. We are about two feet low and the water temp is about 85 degrees. With the full moon approaching night fishing will be a great way to get away from the heat. Remember to have your lights on at all times when using your trolling motor. Check out your area you plan to fish while it is light and then you are ready. Don’t forget the bug repellant and wear a life jacket at all times. Don’t forget the fishing license are on sale. I have mentioned this before but the McDonald tournament is not far off and you need to be putting out your brush piles. This will give you a place to fish where you don’t have twenty five other fishermen on a local spot. I still have dates open for September if you want to get a good spot for the tournament give me a call as I have open dates in September. Jim Reaneau 1-888 |
