I finally got out for the first time in 2010 on Sat. Couple guys met up on the hot side of the radioactive cesspool and braved the freezing morning temperatures and NW winds to get on the water. We started on the main point of the creek we launched out of and did nothing. Turned the corner and started working the flat. I pulled out the cranking rod with the Yozuri Hardcore, checked the temp guage and found 49 degrees, cast up to 3' of water, muttered something about KVD and the rod loaded up with the first bass of the year. Slightly over 14" or so. Worked down the bank and proceeded to put a limit of fish in the boat over the next hour and a half. All the bass were shallow in less than 8' of water and relating to flats or small points. One may have been on a dock.
Ran to a couple areas that had warmer temps, 56-64 degrees, and couldn't buy a bite. Spent the rest of the day searching for more fish but came up empty. Even went back over the areas we had caught them early in the day and nothing. But not a bad day for the first day back on the water ![]() |
