also when the water is calm, try a worm (8-10inch). or maybe a lizzard or brush hawg.

I'll give that a try Bama.
Well guys, I caught this today out of Lake Pearl here in Florida. The scale said 7 and some change but it felt like 8lbs - lol. Maybe I'm off a bit. What do you guys think and do you trust those spring scales? I really need to pick up a digital scale. My first fish ever this large on that same strike king swim jig (bluegill colored) with a swimming super fluke trailer (Houdini colored). Water temp was 54deg with winds at about 10mph. I yoked it right into a thick patch of lilies on the southwest corner of the lake. Thank god for Braid and Heavy powered rods. Last edited by BBD; 12-20-10 at 09:31 PM. |

Great fish, BBD -- congrats and way to go!
(P.S. - I'd recommend a digital scale, although I've never used a spring scale. I really like the Berkely lip grip scale that I have.) . |

I just got a few packs of these in the smaller size from TW that I plan on using as swim jig trailers. They are much more compact than Flukes and they look really, really good!

I got the LT Rainbow 501 and the Green Pumpkin Red. They seem really soft, I think they will have a really good action.

How wide are they? Did you get small ones or the 5"??? Also noticed that they were on sale today for $2.88 per pack of 3.

I don't have them with me but I would guess they are about 3/4" - 1" wide at the widest point. I did get the smaller ones specifically to use as trailers but I'm thinking about ordering some of the big ones too. The large ones are on sale for $2.88 but come in a 2 pack.
