bassFishingWNY, I don't understand how you can be so sure you "will vote democrat in 2012". This is one thing I really can't grasp and it's not about republican or democrat. I can't stand to see folks vote the party line everytime. Either party does not dictate who a person is and what he/she believe. There are many republicans who support very liberal ideals and vice versa. In a past post you wrote "don't believe what the right wing media feeds you" (or something along those lines). Maybe you need to take a hard look at how the media is manipulating your views.

I'm not even going to touch the religion thing, but I think it's not important that you believe in god, buddha, mohammed or whatever. I think it's more important that you have faith in people, that people will try to do what's right. I believe in god, but don't look down on non-believers as I have had my moments of doubt. I just like people to have faith, even if you are not religious you can be spiritual and have faith in something.

It's absolutely pointless to argue with you.

1) the tv media is so obviously liberal it's ridiculous...I don't remember seeing pages upon pages of Bush photos and articles in magazines like US and People. They follow Obama around like he's a freakin' celebrity and even if he does make fun of mentally handicapped kids he will come away smelling like a rose.

Ok, let me break it down further. I am not a liberal. I'm conservative/libertarian mixed. But YOU SAID "If you give to charity, you're liberal." That's not a valid argument AT ALL. You're taking one characteristic of my life and using it to define me. That's ludicrous. I was trying to get you to see that in my post about how someone having a bass boat or guns defines their whole life. I never said anything about you having or not having guns. Frankly, I could care less. Buy them, sell them, hate them, whatever. That's your choice.

What you're doing is similar to a logic puzzle I've seen before.

As an exercise, take these two statements as true:
1. All cows are brown.
2. An animal at my house is brown.

Now, using just that information, prove or disprove this hypothesis:
"Since all cows are brown, and this particular animal is brown, then that animal must be a cow."

Is that logical?

really? How much did Biden give to charity vs. McCain? I can't remember the exact amount but McCain had given about 20 times more. Your statement above holds no water. First off, if you're going to use fancy words, as least know what they mean. Unless of course you were trying to form a different word. In that case, I cannot figure out what word you're aiming for.

And third, I was only 12 when bush was elected in 2004. So I'd have to go with no on your original question... at least I think it was a question.

This has been one of the funniest threads I have ever read. I like it when bassfishingwny responds. Although most of what he says makes very little sense to me. To say 3 years plus before an election you are voting straight ticket means only one thing. You are so closed minded that common sense and logic has gone out the window. I can't say that I will vote straight ticket in 2010 much less 2012. Some of our local officials are democrats and they are doing a great job. As the races stand now, for Congressman (my wife's boss) and for Senator I will be voting to the right side of the isle but some local races I will vote for a democrat and my state senator is indepedent (I hope he gets re-elected). I am conservative. I vote for the best person for the job! I will not vote straight ticket unless it happens to fall that way. It is stupid and careless to vote for someone because of the letter beside their name.

I think the point WTL is trying to make is that in a fully democratic government, you can wind up with mob rule, and the mob is often uninformed, unintelligent, or both.

The founders knew that when they set up our government as a republic, with voting pretty much restricted to educated, land-owning males.
