Default Megnetic brake systems question.

I have an assortment of Garcia C# and C4 baitcasters and an old Shimano Tournament 1000 reel. None of them have the megnetic brake system you see on many of the new baitcasting reels of today. Rather they have the anti backlash adjustment knob on the side plate by the handle. Yesterday I purchased the Rick Clinn Signiture Series baitcaster from Bass Pro with the 7.1 - 1 ratio. I am not really sure how to adjust the megnetic brake system dial on the left side of the reel. How do I determine the proper adjustment for that feature?
