smallies on topwater chuggers in 85+ feet of water... the real downer was seeing hundreds of fish just cruising by in anything from 3 feet to 35 feet of ultra clear water-70 degrees-. and have them rush the bait but stopped short.. linville side had 35+ feet visability marion side had 12 feet visability. was using a "clear" senko weightless, a baby paca craw on a spot remover,a 1/4oz spinner bait white/blue skirt. i had one on a rebel pop-r get off. caught a dink largemouth that bum rushed the spinnerbait. he came out of 50+ feet of water to knock the snot out of it as it hit tree limbs in 20+ feet of water.it was trippy to watch and hard-real hard- to wait for him to come get it.. zooker

It was, JB-he was telling me about it the other day. 30-40 foot visibility. VERY unusual for fresh water.

yeah jb it is a differant lake-lake james-it is a mountain area lake..read that 2.5 hour drive west...high rock evlovation is in the 620's above sea level the lake we were fishing was in the 2500's feet above sea level. run this thru google search. N35 44.291 w81 53.421 it is the ramp location.. how clear? you could see 17 pound floro in the water..he was using a jig with it but the bass could also see the line..so braid was definatly out of the question.. i was rigged with 8 and 12 pound floro and 8 pound mono.. this lake is probly the most beautiful lake i have ever fished period..you are surounded by mountains.
