Check out this video, I know these guys and they have been SLAYING the hawgs on Lake Austin during the drawdown. LCRA lowers the lake almost every year by 12' so the grass will die and residents can do repairs on their docks and seawalls. You can only access the lake with jon boats, kayaks, or any kind of small craft that can be hand loaded. There is about 15-20' of at least knee deep mud that you have to go through to get to the water. Here is a short video that they made a couple days ago. It's amazing, check it out........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5ClmNOn9hM |

During the summer you can't get on the lake in the middle of the day for all the Wake boarders and Jet Fleas. It is loaded with big bass. There is also another breed of fishing folks that like that lake, the carp anglers. The lake is loaded with huge carp!

This has kinda sparked a firestorm over on this other fishing forum. Kinda interesting the way some folks feel about this kind of fishing. Good points on both sides......

I don't get it. What is the controversy? It looks like some guys throwing crankbaits and catching a lot of fish. I could see controversy on say, the PETA forum, but a fishing forum?

I agree with you, I believe the controversy is stemmed from people who are thinking that when Lake Austin is taken down 12' for dock repairs and to kill the hydrilla that it becomes a "stream" and catching these fish are "like shooting fish in a barrel".

if the fish are biting then why not catch em. if they were sightfishing for bedded bass then i could see the contraversy.
