I had to send that link to a couple African-American friends of mine. They found it hilarious. Those buddies and I often make fun of the silliness of racial epithets and marvel at their origins.

The thing is the guy said he saw it on a documentary, I would love to see that. It almost seems like he didn't make it up, the way he cited the cartoons and the candy.

The name is also applied to every color of Zara Spooks. I want to buy a Zara Honky!

I for one am now calling for a boycott of Zara Spooks and Heddon lures in general by all progressive, forward thinking, North-American gamefish. It is absolutely unconscionable that such a racially offensive lure be allowed to continue to wreak havoc in our society, and as such we must go to the source of this lure's appeal to eliminate the scourge of racism in America. In addition to this, I am also planning protests against Heddon Lure company. Don't worry folks, we're gonna make things all better.

Furthermore, I believe we should examine the names given to the actual game fish. After all they did not select the names.
Obviously, smallmouth is a derogatory term which probably leaves the fish feeling inadequate and inferior to their largemouth counterparts.
Do you think a crappie enjoys it's name? Is a crappie any less deserving of an attractive name than a rainbow trout?

Don't even get me started on the black bass - clearly racially motivated!

Fisherman unite, we could solve these injustices!!!!

Rainbow trout is clearly a homophobic slur directed at those with different sexual orientations. Just this day I have written my congressman demanding censure to all those who use this term. They should be called colorful trout or something to that effect.

Hmmm, I think you are on to something there. Those rainbow trout are rather soft and feminine looking fish, I feel perhaps I've not been sensitive enough about this... Why just last year I referred to a bottom feeding fish as a sucker... that poor fish, imagine the damage I did to his self-esteem. That's it, I'm writing myself a letter asking me to censure me!!

well guys, the bass that we call largemouth was really called a "black" bass by the natives. now when did it become a"hawg", "sowbelly" etc.... hmmmm. people.... i swear.... they need a life like we all say. let it GO people. there are other things we need to worry about. like what is the weather gonna be tomorrow? i want to fish, hahahaha.
