Questions??? If you had my Pro Team 190 w/ the 90 Merc, what would you do?? Jackplate? How big? Stainless prop? Change pitch or # of blades? Any fine tuning to the motor that may add a little juice to it??? Not looking for Mach 1, just a little more oomph and speed. Wasn't trying to ignore anyone else, but these two live for this stuff.

your boat empty weighs 982 pounds with a 90 horse merc -i hope it is a 2 stroke- imo i would have gone with a bigger moter my self but.. ok hose got to have some info first. tach reading at wot? how is the hole shot? what is the tin prop size and pitch? that being said.. i would definatly go stainless prop. number of blades depends on the answers you give me.. a jack plate is nice but on a tin boat they tend to squat the boat in the water.-think lowrider- what the jack plate does is move the moter back 6-8" depending on plate brand. a nice manual jackplate would be ok but i am not certain if a jackplate will help you much on that tracker... zooker

http://www.outboardreeds.com/product/B-239 Add a steel prop and tune. It should add some MPH.. Capt Mike Disclaimer:: when you blow it up and you will blow it up,,, I claim no fault.

[quote=flfireman;235735]Questions??? If you had my Pro Team 190 w/ the 90 Merc, what would you do?? Well I can't answer for anyone else but I would fish the heck out of it. Most of what I know about motor tinkering ends up with What Capt. Mike said. Nothing but T R O U B L E! It might not happen today or tomorrow but it will happen. You've got a great rig by the way. Those Trackers have come a long long way in the last few years. I can remember a budy of mine had an 18 footer and when you would go to step off it onto the dock you could put the back end level with or sometimes into the water. Fish the heck out of that thing. bP |

A jackplate would DEFINATELY help. The aluminum boats have come along way but they still have a hull design that creates turbulence as the water exits the rear of the boat. The jackplate moves the motor back which allows the prop to run in cleaner water........cleaner water equals a prop that can bite harder and allows you to run a bigger wheel at the same time. All this adds up to better performance. With the addition of the jack and the correct stainless wheel you can expect anywhere from 5 to maybe even 10mph on the topend. As far as jackplate dimensions a good ole CMC manual or equivalent is all that is needed. That jack extends the motor 5 1/2" from the stock location. As far as what wheel to run.........my preference for the smaller Merc motors is the Laser ll. A excellant prop for getting the nose up and letting the hull break loose. They dont make a Tempest small enough for that motor.........as far as I know.....There are some more props but a box stock Laser ll really helps tremendously. As stated before we get to turning wrenches need some info from ya. WOT rpms would be the first as well as a GPS speed. NOT A SPEEDO speed. speedo's arnt true unles they are the GPS speedo. Also would like a estimate of the holeshot time........that is from a deadstop ..nail the throttle ....and when the bow breaks over......thats the time I am looking for. I alrerady know what gears you have in the lower so that is neccasry. Now these numbers you give me........they need to be with the boat loaded like you normally load it. Otherwise the setup will be off.
