				 | rough night out

Well got all my stuff together and figured i would get a couple hours of fishing in this afternoon , the weather has been warming up , most the says have been high 50's to low 60's. Well not today high temp off the day 43 after almost 2 days off constant rain but determined I went out anyways and froze my butt off (by the way it was more than a little bit windy) started off fishing the back side off small walk in access lake that had tons of tree stumps coming out of the water i had to pitch a jig to dang near every stump to no avail then switched and rolled a big 1/2oz spinner to the bank the wind was beating on again no luck and that was pretty much how the night went by the time i left my hands were just about numb and i was cursing the cold front that is moving through the state but there will be next time . Had a very similar day on the 28th, it was so nice for 4 days that I decided I had 2 go, well I live in idaho, so it snowed and sleated all day and the only bites I got were short strikes on a tube fished painfully slow about 15 feet down. I thought that was bad enough, but I think I cursed it because yesterday was the only day it hasn't rain/snowed since |

I have learned that I don't even try to go out and fish if the wind is blowing and the temperature is below 60. The reward of "maybe" catching a fish here or there does not outweigh the miserable state that I would inevitably end up in.

What using a suspending jerkbait with real slow retreive....if that don't work maybe even slower...just let it suspend for a while?

It had to feel good just to get out and throw some junk though. I'll be heading out for the same this weekend. Mid 50s today and supposedly the weekend's gonna be warmer. If nothing else fails, I'll break in the trolling motor and fish finder. Stopped at 2 lakes today on the way home from work, just to see how they were lookin. 1 was ice free, the other had some stubborn ice still clingin to the western shore

I really look forward to windy days if the mph is only 10-15, anything over 20 is brutal keeping the boat pointed in the right direction. I'll take wind over calm everytime.

I love fishing windy flats with a jerkbait or spinnerbait, thats somewhere I can pretty much count on getting a few fish.
