				 | Ordered a new rod

I ordered a G Loomis Mossyback flipping rod in the 7'5 14-20 version. Anyone have one? Broke my custom flipping stick this week and ordered this to replace it, hope it is a good choice.

Never used a mossyback loomis rod. I do love the couple IMX rods I've used, but I think there are rods that are just as good for less money. BB

I considered a carrot stic, but didn't know how I would like the handle they use. Might pick one up later in the year to try though.

I'd get a Shimano Cumara. Very light and sensitivity similar to the Loomis IMX rods for 200-220 bucks. (and a lifetime warranty) BB

Just got my Dobyns Champion Extreme SF-472 via UPS yesterday. All I can say is WOW, I matched it with a Shimano Symmetre 1500 Rear Drag and it is SWEEEET!

Yes. And it was a very good choice. I use mine to punch the grass beds. It also works well in pads and heavy brush.

You got a very good rod indeed. I have owned two of the mossback rods (craigslist purchases) and thought they were great. The price of a new one is more than I want to spend on a rod though. Price and reccomendations are what started me down the carrot stick path. I never thought I would like the handle either until I started throwing them. I would put them up against just about any other rod out there. For me they are the best I have.

When we visited the tackle shop on the KY Lake trip, all their reels that where out for people to look at were mounted on broken carrot stick handles. there was also a guy in there who just fished a tournament. He set the hook and his carrot stick like exploded into 3 or 4 pieces. lol. I don't like the bright orange color either. BB
