I almost said a small spot. But I doubt you catch those in fresh water.

easy bcklash. LOL.
I caught it in a tidal river. I have never seen one before. I have caught several spot tails but nothing that looks like that, but it does resemble the head. |

lol. It looked to me like a mixture of a spot and a croaker. I gave it a new name though. Chessy Creek Bream.

Looks like something an Atlantic croaker, it's in the croaker family, like redfish, and black drum. I think everything in that family can cross into fresh!
Here's it's mommy! ^^

Croaker for sure..
They are some fast growing BTW. Most authors maintain t h a t croaker s mature a t the end o f t h e i r second year (Pearson 1929; Gunter 1945; Johnson 1978), but others report that some may mature and spawn before their second year is completed (Avaul tetal .1969; Hansen 1970; Etzold and Chris t-mas 1979). Wall ace (1940) reported that males mature at 2 years and females at 3 years o f age. Surviving spawners and juveniles (by then the 1st y r - c l a s s ) overwinter in the gulf and Christmas 1979).return to the estuaries the f o l l o w i n g spring. The c y c l e may repeat several times during the l i f e t i m e o f a s i n g l e f i s h , as at l e a s t some members of the species live to 4 t o 5 years of age but r a r e l y greater (Parker 1971; Etzold and Capt Mike

This one was caught just downriver from my summer house.. Capt Mike

Atlantic Croaker, how the heck do they end up over here, I call them bait theives when fishin live bait for reds. They usually have a more golden look over here which fools tourists into thinking they have a red on the line, I hear they eat good but I havent ever tried, obviously that one wont, but at least someting was caught.
