chatterbait trailer prototype

You saw it here first. New Knucklehead trailer. Still in the works. Adding more silver flash on the side down to the bottom of the eye socket. Should have my hands on some late this weekend or early next week. Also got a new shaker/chatter bait prototype coming out too. No pics of it yet.

Of course once I get them I'll have to get out and test them.....

3.5" to 4"

The guys making them have been making 5" and larger swim baits for striper fishermen for a couple years now. I spoke with them at the Richmond show. Told them what I was looking for and this is what they've come up with.

But just because they look good doesn't mean they catch fish. I've got some custom painted Baby 1 minus' that I had done, they look awesome, but don't catch fish.

Yea I know the feeling!..lol....So to clarify, Are these to be used on chatterbaits?..Im a little confused by the thread title.

Waffle - yes they are designed to be a trailer for a chatterbait type bait. Got a custom chatterbait coming with it. It's got a keeper to hold the trailer on. Already have the skirts made.

I would think a darker green or white fade up to green would appear much more realistic if fished slow

You need to see the baitfish we have here on the river. Black back, silver side, white belly. Now we do have some green backed bait fish, chubs and shiners, but I'm starting with the blueback, white perch, and alewife/shiner patterns first.

Those look real good! Looks like an open top mold triple pour, tricky trying to get that stripe in the middle just right.

Yeah it took them 15 tries or so to get the timing down. Now they've got it figured out and production has begun. Can't wait to get a couple and test them out!! It's been too long since I've been on the water......getting that itch!

Got the final trailers last night. Here's a pic of them with the Knucklehead skirt on a shaker/chatter type bait I picked up at the last show.

Wow 3d!!! those look awesome!! ever think of usin them rigged on just a jighead for swimbaits?

There are a couple types of blades out there with none, 2, 3, and 4 holes. If the science is correct the ones with the more holes should have less lift and run deeper than the ones with no holes. As long as they all have the same general shape and surface area. Some guys modify their blades by bending back the top part of the blade too.

Cavs - The first people to see the trailers all said the same thing....."Are those striper baits?" and then " Those would look good as a swim bait on one of those jig head rigs with the willow blade thing." So yes they can be used that way and I may test them out this weekend to see how they work in this manner.
