Just beware that they will charge you for shipping on the way back if they're going to replace a faulty rod. I sent out a rod to both Quantum and Falcon at the same time and got the Quantum back the same week. It took two weeks for Falcon to finally tell me that I needed to pay for shipping.
I asked them in the email if they could replace it for free and ship it to me and they answered in a way that sounded like I didn't have to pay. They basically beat around the bush. Anyways, they have good stuff, but I don't like this situation. Not that big of a deal. |

Most all places are like this. I just had to pay return shipping on a Curado to be fixed under warranty - almost expect it.
Falcon is top notch and their customer service is and has always been great. |

That's strange. Reels cost less to ship than rods. I've had two rods replaced by Shimano and they sent them back with free shipping.

Hmmm, I would think that if the rod failed under warranty then the failure was their fault of the manufacturer and they should cover the costs. I broke a Fenwick last year and they paid shipping of the new rod to me. I can't remember if I had to pay to ship them back the pieces but it didn't cost much since I was told to cut it down into small pieces to save on shipping.

Shimano hasn't ever made me pay one cent for shipping or any cost. Like bender said its there fault they should pay for everything you did in fact pay for the rod.

That's not too bad considering St Croix and Loomis have a replacement fee to go along with the shipping costs. I dont even want to go into what I would have had to have done through E-21 to get my Carrot Stix replaced (luckily I know a guy who knows a guy at Bass Pro).

Almost all companies charge you for return shipping. However, if they charged you to ship the new rod to you (which is what it sounds like happened), then I think that's a bit out of the ordinary.

As for e21, I think they're a joke. A friend of mine returned his broken one to the shop he bought it at. Two months later, he called them up to what was going on. e21 wouldn't take any of their returns back. He did eventually get a new one. which he promptly sold. But enough about e21's poor customer service. BB

St. Croix's lower level warranty is not spectacular.
But like G Loomis, their high end stuff is no questions asked, "gimme 50 bucks, I give you a new rod." That includes shipping too.

i think loomis offers the no questions asked policy because they understand just how a rod can be broken.
