Default Gary Loomis TFO Signature series rods

Noticed these this past week at the local BP. Looked nice and felt solid. Also like the lifetime warranty. Anyone else picked up and and if so what did you think?!

Not very high up on my list. Maybe if Gary Loomis had anything to do with the actual construction, blanks, etc. then possibly. But Gary Loomis advised them on actions and powers and that was about it. Enough for them to put his name on them and deceive consumers.

There's a lot of other rods I'd spend $100 on before these.

The review on these rods is that the blank is very average in terms of sensitivity, they do use an above average guide, with a SS frame and SiC inserts, while they don't list who the maker is, it is believed to be Kigan. The biggest knock on the rod is the reel seat, it is a blank through non exposed reel seat that is very cheap looking. The only other thing I got from reading reviews was that the rated power of the rod is a little low, in other words medium rated rods tested like MH rated rods, the actions were more accurate.

I am like BB144, I don't think this would be on my list of finalist is the 100 dollar price range. Some other rods you may want to consider are the Falcon Bucoo now available with micro guides. Abu Garcia Veritas and Verdict, Skeet Reese has a complete line of rods in this price range as well as BPS carbon lite both available in micro guides. There are some very good rods in the 100-130 dollar price range, with sales going on all the time you should be able to find something that meets your needs.

Personally, I'd scratch the Skeet rod and add the Lamiglas Excel, also avail. in micro guide.

This is kind of a shame as they make killer fly rods and reels.
