I woke up to some of the same texts this morning. I think it is great of Lisa to let him hold her fish.

Personally, I think he was reeling in one of his normal catches, and that hog ate it! Great Fish, John!!!

rhahaha, thanks gang. this one here weighed 6# 1 oz. ran into ol BOB SMITH out thee today. bob weighed it for me cause i thought my scales were messed up, but they were right after all.lol i "thought" she would go bigger by the length of her (22 1/2 inches long, 7" from top fin to belly.) but she had laid ehr eggs and was HUNGRY fo dat ol lizzie i was chunking. got a total of aobut 15, most were dinks, but did manage to boat 5 keepers. i caled lisa (she ws driving back from florida wher she spent a week with one of her sisters, and told her about the biggun. she told me to save her and when we can we'll mount it. make a pair 9with the 8.2 pounder i already ahve in the freezer) i said cool. got home and filleted out the remainding keepers. which were 1 at 4 even, 1 at 3, and 2 at about 2-2 1/4 pounds. got 2 nice baggies in the freezer for dinner.
all but 1 were caught on the lizzard, INCLUDING a bream (he wanted to be a bass, lol. got apic of it too, swallowed it almost whole, haha). i got pics of all the keepers cept 1. didn't take any of the dinks. ya'll seen those from me aplenty. lol. it was sho nuff grand to see ol bob out there. he had his rod builder with him. great guy too. also i want to tell aobut a couple of fellas from VIRGINNY i met at the loading dock. couple of fantastic guys who said they read this site alot. told them to join up and that there were already a couple of great guys form his state. he may or may not, hope he does. anyway, they helped me load my rig andi want to say THANK YOU AGIAN DAVE! didn't get the other guys name, but he backed my trailer in for me and i was saved form having a near wreck cause the water got real wavy this evening. thanks gang, felt good to hook some nice fish for a change. hope fully we will ALL get that feeling come may at wheeler!!

I was holding off on replying to this thread until I heard the story straight from the man himself. Now that I heard the full report I want to say congratulations on a great day. And it's amazing what old John can do when Lisa isn't in the boat catching all the big fish lol. Congrats again John, I bet it felt good buddy.

nobass, texas rigged the lizzard. zoom lizzard, watermelon and punkinseed. sometimes dipped in spike-it chartruse garlic. toss it under the fallen down trees and watchit drift off a bit............then JERK OUT THEIR JAWS. lol. caught a LOT of dinks, but kept my limit (5). made 2 bags for dinner.
the water on g'ville is down bout 3 ft right now. very light rain coning MAYBE this weekend. but doubt if it pours down. hit and miss showers more like it. also got 1 keeper on a pop-r. topwater is heating up here QUICK. bring your topwater baits to wheeler gang. gonna be on fire i think.

smitty i am SURE AS SHOOTING. lisa was on her way back from FLAWDA with here sister. she was kind upset that she wasn't with me though she said. she would've caught those for sure if she was, not me. so i got lucky see. besides....i was using some of her rods. maybe that is where the luck is? lol.

Well I just got my PC back this evening and went fishing for a while. Tomorrow I will load the picture we took of John and THE FISH! Sure was a nice one! and we enjoyed visiting with ya Brother. We went on up to Mud Creek and starting wacking some good fish where the Creek and river form a ridge. Went from there up to Raccoon and fished all the way to the back with one 4 pounder to show for it. So we finished the day up at Mud Creek then came on in about 8:30 (full 12 hours on the water).
