Favorite "Skinny dipper?"
Fall's getting pretty close here, days are getting shorter, and temps are getting cooler and regularly getting into the lower 50's at night. As soon as the extensive grass mats here on the lake die down a little, I plan I tossing some spinnerbaits and "skinny dipper" type baits.
Berkley Havoc Grass Pig looks like a nice bait, for a great price, but does it work well? The tail end looks kinda stiff. I was also looking at the Big Bite Bait Cane Thumper, Gambler Big EZ (does it have a hook slot?), Zoom Swimmin Fluke, and of course the original skinny dipper. I've used the Swim Stik-O-Worm from BPS and really liked it. unfortunately there's no bass pro's in wisconsin and the online shipping prices SUCK. Also what's your favorite way to rig em?

I use a lot of the Cane Thumpers and the Zoom's...The Cane Thumpers are my favorite, and they do have a hook slot on top...The tilapia has been my best producer as far as color in TX.
I prefer rigging them on a 3/0 weighted flashy swimmer hook..Although the willow blade it junk and falls off after a fish or two....Apparently the reviews echo my experience. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner...age-OFSCP.html But Ill probably re-add a new willow leaf with my own engineering. But they really got nailed during pre and post spawn.

And here I thought we'd be talking about old girlfriends and Ol' Man Thompson's pond....
Sexy shad is the color and weightless 4/0 EWG is typically how I use them. I've caught bass on the Big Dipper in white trash as well. |

Yep. Bass Assassin has their version out but haven't thrown one yet to make a comparison. Might do that this weekend. Depends on where I fish and what type of bite I get.

I was also wondering what you guys think of texas rigging them with a pegged weight rather then a swimbait hook. I've heard you get more wobble outa the bait.

Bitters bait
I have used the Reaction Innovation "Skinny Dipper" frequently in the spring with great results on big, bedding bass. But I find them pretty expensive. My local tackle store carries Bitters bait version "Naked Swimmer". https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/naked-swimmer.html.
I actually like these better because, like all their baits, they are made with salt and pork. The bass seem to hold on longer. And their prices are very good.

LOTS of colors, and reasonalbe. May have to try some of those bitters bait swimmers. I just bought a couple bags of Yamamoto swim senko's, which are a similiar style bait, for 8.99 for 10 (vs 5 pc for these, still a $4 savings). Gary is beginning to price himself out of my business, while his baits are very good the competition is rapidily overtaking him especially in affordability. Good selection of other baits also, thanks for the link!

I've been using the new Havoc Grass Pig a little. You can't beat them for $2.99 a pack!
