				 | New NY record pike.

For those of you who don't know where Caroga Lake is, it's in Fulton County New York . Probably the biggest nearby town would be Gloversville, about ten miles away...a beautiful little lake full of Pike---it's less than an hour's drive from Albany, NY. This is NOT a fish story ! This is a new record Northern Pike in New York .. It was caught on Caroga Lake . Check this thing out.. The man (in the photos below), was fishing, and caught a 36" Pike. As he was reeling it in, a 56" - 55 lb Pike tried to eat it !!!!! this is a FISH!! That's how they grow them in Caroga Lake!(East Caroga, NY) Last edited by bassboogieman; 03-08-12 at 12:03 AM. |

FWIW, this story has been going around as an e-mail chain for a couple years or more. This fish has been caught pretty much all over the globe. |

Can't see the picture but I'm guessing it's the monster pike that was caught in Germany I believe. If that's it then it is a really impressive fish for sure.

Supposedly, the "small" fish was 36", which isn't a bad pike. The bottom picture really shows why pike are sometimes referred to as "gators" - just looking at the head comming up and taking the smaller pike, it sure does resemble an alligator. The series of 3 pics are what I got in an e-mail about the "New York Record, etc". I admit, I was fooled.

The bigger fish is just holding on to the little one so it doesn't get pulled out of the water

Indeed that last picture is a beaut. I wish some mad scientist/fisheries biologist/genetic manipulator could figure out how to get a LMB to have that Pike mindset!!

I wonder what kind of tackle it would take to fish with a 36 inch swimbait?

How did he get the bigger one in the boat, considering it wasn't actually hooked?

If I was out in my kayak, and saw that pike, I'd be running on top of the water like Richard Pryor in The Toy
