Monkey Came Out of Nowhere!
So I was at Cabela's yesterday evening and had a minute to kill so I headed over to the bargain cave (where I've personally never had any success in finding a good deal). Right off the bat, I saw three Steez rods on the rack. Brand new, they're just not carrying that model anymore. I new right then, even if it wasn't a Steez, I was probably going home with something. Found a Dobyns Champion 703 SF. Used, and kind of beat up. I might have gone for it if it was a ML rod and not a M. After looking over a couple Crucials (the new ones feel great and a ML dropshot rod was tempting for $100). I spied a rod I've never seen at a Cabela's. A Falcon. Upon closer inspection, it was a Falcon Cara Micro Amistad (7'3" H F). A new rod, with one micro guide broken. Easy fix, $16-18 bucks max from Jann's Netcraft. A quick look over the rod and the price tag, and a few texts to a fellow BF.com member later, I was on my way to the checkout with my first Falcon and first micro guide rod. The damage? About $115 after tax from $250 retail. Turns out, the guide was only a couple bucks, so even after the repair, I'm looking at about 50% off retail. The monkey caught me off guard and succeeded in lightening my wallet when I had been doing so good fending him off since last summer. BB

The monkey can be sneaky like that. You got a good rod at a great price. The monkey's happy.....for now!

Sweet, I was wondering if you ended up getting it. I don't see how you could go wrong on that deal.

You will like the Cara, slightly more sensitive than the Champion line of Dobyns, but a little less balanced. Like Kory said, I can almost bet that you will like the rod.

Falcon has been on my list of rods to try for quite a while. And also one of my top contenders for testing micro guides on a factory rod.
I took the rod to Net Craft yesterday. A new Fuji Alconite 4.5 micro guide was $1.99 and the repair is $10. So even with the repairs it was a great deal. They told me I should be able to pick it up Saturday. Can't wait to mount the Fuego and test it out. Now I just need to figure out what to fish on it... BB

The monkey may have got you but he did you well. Sometimes the monkey can be our friend! Enjoy the rod buddy.

A-rig, heavier jigs, plastics, punching, maybe frogs in heavy cover, not sure what the tip is like on that rod. I'm sure you will find a way to put it to good use.

Just in case no one else will do it - crazyfisherkid YOU ARE A COMPLETE A$$H0LE and we certainly don't need idiots like yourself posting here. Go away, far away and don't come back until you grow up. Just my opinion, mind you. I'm certain no one on this board will assist you in anyway from this point forward, therefore your time here will be wasted.

Nice snag! Sounds like a frog rod!
