I just thought I'd write a little post to Capt Starrett.
First ... thank you, very much, for continuing to post your trips on this site. Second ... it's been 4 days since the last trip. You both on vacation? |

Capt Dave and I just got back from fishing the Northern neck of VA. 10 species caught and Capt Dave won the spot tourney with two fish and 26 spots.
100's of fish caught by 12 anglers and some really odd ones too. More later when I have time. Capt Mike

Croaker still strong but less reds and trout.
Only fished the Bay proper for about an hour in 4 foot seas.. to heck with that so we fished the river.. Capt Mike

Looks like there's a few bowfin in with those others. Or are there pattern-less S.H.s?
Nice day on the water with all those species. Good to see your posts, again. |

We fished for 5 days straight and I explored some un-named creeks as well. In one I saw this gut that went way back into the swamp. I decided to park at the mouth and re-rig a 7 foot rod with a Cabo 40 PT spooled with 20 lb 832 line. Posed and ready I cast back to the very back of the gut. The white training horney toad slipped off the tall grass into the thin water and I began the swim back to the boat. Several times I stopped let the toad sit oon the bottom. Twitched and few more feet would let it sit. Then a shadow moved toward it and I lifted it up from the bottom. The big fish picked up my toad and moved toward the heavy grass line. I waited as long as could and savagely set the hook. The big bow fin jumped about 4 feet and hit the grass edge. I managed to roll the 12 lb plus bow fin off the grass but the hook just pulled clean. Dang..
Caught many but that one stills hunts me. Capt Mike

This weekend we scored big with a turatitsoures rex of a grinnel that was almost 9 pounds. Then a 5.8 lb LGMouth was caught.
Over 30 grinnel and 25 LGMouth landed on my boat. Capt Mike
