Got some new hooks today that will be perfect for that little swim bait presentation. They have the front head weight just below the eye and a screw in holder for the soft bait. I think they are designed for toads but my idea just might work.

I plan on putting a caffeine shad on it and a bead in front. Bright red faceted bead.

Come on warmer weather.

Tacklewarehouse.com had them half price.

I have used a similar bait hook before but it had a wire line to the blade. It worked well but the grass was a problem. This just might work fine.

Capt. there's a video out there showing how to hook up swimbaits and such on those screw locks. I can't find it now but I think you nose hook the bait then twist it around the hook on the screw lock. Worked real slick in the video and then you don't need superglue to hold it on.

It sounds like you're describing a way to lock soft plastic to the hook shank, leaving the hook point exposed? That's the way I interpret your post.
Screw the spring into the nose, bury the hook point in the body. Perfectly weedless and I've never had to use superglue to "hold it on".

You know I don't remember if he had the hook exposed. I should have been more clear about the super glue also. When using the screwlock as opposed to any other type of lock you would add the glue to these to help keep the bait in place.

I found the vid. yes the hook point stays exposed.

I use "Mr. Twister" keeper hooks for most of my soft plastic lure fishing. Frogs, I use the spring type keepers. I don't use superglue on either of them. Maybe I should try that.

That's a different kind of screw spring.
Look up "swim bait jighead" and "screw lock hook." In the video, he's putting a body on a jighead, where the screw spring winds around the hook shaft. On the hook Capt. Mike is showing, the spring is separate from the hook shaft.

That is the OLDHAM screw head jig and they are excellent for Power Bait grubs. I have also used them for ned rigs as well. Never swim baits..
