Reversing line

Would it be alright to reverse your line onto another reel? Power pro is expensive and I was wondering if the line that is buried could stand up to another season? I don't fish tournaments so it is not warrented that I change all of the line. What about other types of line also? I also know that a lot of guys put backing onto their reels and I don't. I know this would save money but I haven't done it yet.

i wouldnt suggest using the line again but i have had braid last 2 years with out replacing it

#18 fire line on a baitcaster lasted 4 years and it was fine

its kinda funny the line lasted longer then the reel

I've used cheap line as backing for as long as I can remember, whether I'm fishing with mono or a superline.

I've had mono on some reels for years and it works fine.

Fireline is not a braid, but I've fished two full seasons with the same line and expect to do at least a third.

Bass Kicker, Marty happens to be one of the smartest people I have met on the bass boards.Fireline is not a braided line,its a Unifilament line created from a advanced molecular-reorientation process.I can see how it could be mistaken for a braided line, it has the same characteristics as braid, but it is a unifilament line . Anyone have a favorite knot to join two lines together on a spool?
I use two cinch knots to join line , but it leaves a huge knot in your spool.
I am talking when you have been out fishing several times and lost a lot of line, and want to add some extra line back on the spool for longer casts.

hey what can i say i am only 16 and i know quite abit about bass fishin

and the knot that i use to join 2 lines is the blood knot it has never failed me

and i use it for musky and salmon

bk, no offense, but guys like Marty, PnJ, JB, Laser, Bassintom, and Zooker know what they are talking about. I have a lot of respect for these guys, and I listen to what they have to say-it is usually pretty good advice.

i know i look for there advice to i just thought fire line was a braid because the bps catolog said it was and other people told me it was

Almost 40 years, bk-ever since I was a little kid. My dad started me perch jerking with a cane pole and the rest, as they say, is history.

Take advantage of that offer if you wish-I've tested lures in the past, and it is a neat experience. It also gives you an excuse to get on the water, like we really need one .

Try the uni-knot line to line. Much easier than a blood and in my opinion stronger.

i know a guy who has had power pro on a rod for 7 years without changing it.he uses berkley cross lock snaps so he almost never cuts the line.

the blood isnt hard to learn and is real strong look it up on the internet and it will only take you a couple of triies to get it right

The uniknot is a little easier than the blood knot. Tie two of those for connecting two lines of roughly the same diameter. Use one uniknot for everything else.

Forget the backing just get some tape and tape up the spool so you only have enough line on the spool to make a really long cast and have about 10 ft. of line on the spool. The tape will keep the braid from slipping on the spool also. By filling the spool with tape a box of braid will normally fill the spool 3 times.

but the bait shop we go to puts the backing on for free and a mono backing prevents the braid from digging in on the spool
