I've been making my own for a couple years now and catch as many fish with those as the store bought ones. Plus it's a fun hobby to make your own. However, I do also buy quite a few spinnerbaits as I'm a spinnerbait junky. My two favorites right now are the Strike King KVD lineup, and the Terminator T-1 spinnerbaits. The Strike king KVD 3/8oz. tandem spinnerbait with the bluegill pattern head skirt with gold blades was an absolute killer lure for me this year. My other favorite pattern is a tandem white with silver smaller colorado blade and gold larger willow blade. These two spinnerbaits accounted for 100% of my spinnerbait caught bass in 2009 as far as store bought spinnerbaits go. I do definately want to try some War Eagles as they are so popular with so many guys in here. Gotta see what I'm missin.

I really like strike king. They have a great variety and have a spinner for every situation you will come across.

I happened to find some War Eagles real cheap and I find they produce the best for me. I don't know if it's me or what but I've never caught them on anything but chartruse.

Used to have variety of brands in my 2 spinner boxes but now they're all nothing but War Eagle. My favorite model is the Screaming Eagle, same size as the 1/4 oz but weigh in 1/2. Something about these bait I think it has to do with the piano wire that makes em so great. Hand tied skirt. Best of both world, IMO.
Last year in WallyWorld I found them on clearance at the end of aisle, not in spinnerbait section. Keep your eyes peeled for them. |
