There will be times when you can catch them deep and times when you can catch them shallow.

Tennessee this is a great thread!!!
I usually start my day fishin the banks in search of those early morning feeders, then after the bite slows I'll try to follow them out to deeper water using my electronics to locate the spots. |

Look at it this way, once you learn to use your electronics effectively, you will find fish that you have passing up while looking at the bank. Your fishing experience will also be more satisfying when you start catching the fish you see on your depth finder! It will also help you understand seasonal patterns better by actually seeing the reason that the fish are there (baitfish movements, structure and cover on structure, bottom make up as in hard or soft). If you plan to take your game to another level then learning to use that depth finder is a vital part of the process.

Time has always been my issue with deep structure. I tend to give up too quick. It is something I really want to work on and with the results you had it should be enough motivation.
Thanks.

John, I hope to be coming over your way before too long. I owe you a couple of days on the water anyway just for being such a nice guy! I just hope the TVA doesn't let the homeowners go crazy killing the grass on Guntersville now that they announced they will no longer control it in thier budget!

Wow this is an awesome thread. This is something I really need to work on. Around here all of our lakes deep pressured lakes. I need to learn how to set things up so I can find them and fish them. I also would have to become more versatile with jigs and spoons etc.
