Yes! Shop local, Buy local. If everyone just makes a 10% change in their buying habits(buying U.S. made goods), we would create millions of U.S. jobs. The easiest way to do this...with the food you consume, hit your local farmer's market up.

Just sharing,
Putting aside politics and personal opinions.

The (republican controled) house of representatives have again voted to repeal 'obamacare'.
33rd time

And for the 33rd time it will definitly die in the (democratic controled) Senate.

Cost of all this worthless waste of time......
Cost $24 million dollars a week to run the house, I assume an equal cost to run the senate.
House has spent 2 WEEKS on these votes. .. $48 million
Senate probably spent equal time. .. $48 million

We the people spent same 2 WEEKS working

Cost of midterm elections...house

democrates $119 million
republicans $ 79 million

Cost of Wisconsin recalls this summer...senate $ 31 million
(This doesn't include the $60 million spent on the Governer recall )

TOTAL $325 million (not including the Gov. crap)

How many of the house and senate members will be effected by this waste of money, other than the generous paychecks they have already gotten......ZERO! They aren't participating in 'Obamacare'
Jobs created out of this money.....very very few!

Lastly, the house has 49 working days left this YEAR, I assume the senate has similar.

Total working days left for the year......... 98 working days. (assuming 49 for each)

I'm now joining Ron.

WE THE PEOPLE have ot make the change in our government. jsut think what would happen IF everyone in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, would for JUST one day....turn off everything and not GO anywhere, NOT BUY A THING. jsut for 24 hours. what would happen. and i agree with oyu dog, we should buy local......as much as we possibly can. THAT WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR SURE.

I think maybe you're missing the point with the current admin's class warfare/everybody pay their fair share strategy. If you took every penny from every millionaire in the country you couldn't pay off the debt in a hundred years....it's just a smokescreen. Successful people/small-medium-large business do in fact create jobs. How many poor people do you know of that are currently hiring?
It is so obvious that Mr Obama is in over his head. If he can't perform the duties he was hired to do, then his only hope for reelection is to somehow portray succesful people (you know the guy that owns a small farm or a couple of paint and body shops or the small start up company trying to make and sell a better jig etc) as evil. Couple that with enabling millions and millions and millions of people to live on social programs...so dependant that they have to vote for him or face the horrible reality of the real world. The reality they are quite happy to ignore. The vast majority of these social program parasites could easily work and buy food and raise their children in two parent homes and keep them in school and not pregnant, but...........why should they, all they've got to do is sign some papers and get a gov't check every month.

Finally if you are correct about Nov's outcome....God help us.

As far as I am concerned this is spot on!

I have no problem with there being programs set up to take care of people who are unable to work for one reason or another. I think that the people that can helping take care of those who can't is part of what makes this country great. However I have no room for someone who is perfectly able to work but is too lazy to get a job and sits at home every day and enjoying all the comforts of home that are provided by the people who is working their *** off trying to provide for a family of their own. And sadly I would bet that the percentage of participants who are taking advantage of this system is closer to 75% than it is to 25%. I personally know people who are just flat out unable to work (some from this site), and I am very happy that there are programs to help them. But for every person I know that is accepting aid from these programs for legit reasons, I can think of 5 or 6 who are using the system because it's much easier than getting off their dead *** and going to work, and that pisses me off. I am not saying that Obama is the only president to back all of these programs and and make it all too easy for people to abuse the system, but I can't think of another president who has done it as much as Obama. He ran for election on the idea that more spending was not the answer and then spent 4 years trying to spend our way out of debt. If I see one more blatant and public display of his disrespect for our flag and country by not bowing his head for a prayer or covering his heart during the National Anthem I am going to explode.

I would vote for eliminating all entitlements. Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare...EVERYTHING.

All government charity ever produces is more outstretched hands.

We used to be a proud people. Proud of how much we could accomplish with our sweat. That pride has been replaced with envy of how much stuff the other guy has.

Now this country is full of people who think it is okay to live off someone else's back, and that you should be ASHAMED of even hinting at not wanting to support them.

Well, you guys know I'm never ashamed to speak my mind.

The true "greedy" are the mob, voting themselves money out of others' pockets. But never fear, these people are going to starve, one way or another. We simply have a choice of whether we go down with them.

You have got to be kidding me. You are still blaming Bush for all of this? Look at how damn much money that Obama spent, and you can still with a straight face blame Bush for this? Talk about laughable.

Republicans think every day is the 4th of July.
Democrats think that every day is April 15th.

As I said, the Second American Revolution IS comming, it has to or we are doomed to the status of a Third World Country. The Greeks fell as did the Romans - will we be the next "Great Society" to fall? Those great societies fell due to conflict between the classes in them, very similiar to what we have here in the USA today. I hope we come to our senses before we follow them into history, but the only thing that will save us is a revolution to restore the concepts and ideals that brought on the first one.

YES! Tax-cuts, commitments to two wars, unfunded Medicare benefits program, cost us conservatively, two trillion dollars a year! In a recession, no a depression, in an economic system based on consumer spending, when no one is spending, and banks aren't lending, the only way out, is for the Government to spend, worked with the last depression. Austerity alone, as demonstrated by European countries, doesn't work.
Economics is complicated, and cannot be boiled down to a few slogans. Taxes aren't the whole answer, but either is the austerity recommended by the right. Short term spending in infrastructure, education, and R&D, combined with long-term debt reduction, tax reform, reinstatement of Glass-Stiegel Act, and "entitlement" reform, just to fix the basic economic problems(and that's simplified for you).
Here's an interesting article for you, that might enlighten you on how "austerity" might affect your fishing, and hunting...

BS!
Consider that it's an 'entitlement' because many of us have been paying into the required by law Ponzi scheme all of our working lives (about 45 years for me). I am ENTITLED to get some of that money back! Had I been allowed to invest that money instead I would easily be a millionaire today. My retirement is not charity - I bought and paid for it and then some!

The really sad thing is that like so many, I will likely die before I get even a portion of the money I paid in!!!
And they sent Madoff to jail for his Ponzi scheme!

Hey I'd rather have Thurston Howell running the show than Buckwheat.
If in fact the previous administration put us in the ditch, it looks like the current one did everything in it's power to dig in even deeper. Deep enough that it looked like they were trying to reach China. The socialist' agenda hates free markets. Their goals can only be met by having an impoverished population, a population that cannot survive without the nanny state. They cloak this agenda in rosy buzzwords like economic equality-fair share-social parity. Lazy-worthless-poor pitiful me types will line up at the never ending milk flowing from the gov't teets, until the tit runs dry. What pisses me off is the fact that the gov't teet is actually my teet, and it's getting sore. I work hard for my money and I'd love to be able to keep most of it.

Your overt racism makes everything else you say pointless...

You going to pay more in taxes? You're in the top 2%? Tell me, what does "widening the tax-base", that Romney/Ryan are proposing, mean?

F**K you If Thurston Howell isn't the quintessential rich evil white man then why use him in your post. Racism swings both ways, people like you make me want to vomit.

I'm not a moderator, and I have zero authority here, but take it easy on the language. Everybody is welcome in a discussion, but I think I speak for the majority of the members here when I say that stuff like that is over the line.

When I refer to Romney's wealth, I am making a reference to his ability to connect with the average American, and their plight. When you make a reference to the color, or race, of our President your point is...?

"Republicanism:The unshakable belief that those priveleged from birth, achieved success all on their own."

So people that are born as "average" Americans are in some kind of "plight". A plight that requires affirmative action paid for by hard working "average Americans and administered by the Federal Gov't Hogwash

I wasn't born priveleged(?) in any way shape or form, neither were my parents. I began working at age 14 and have been working ever since. When my schoolmates were playing and fishing and having fun after school and on weekends and during the summer, I was stacking hay in the barn or mowing yards or painting fences or whatever. I paid my way through college by working two jobs, rarely getting more than 4 hours sleep and living off 1000-1500 calories a day. I have never asked the gov't for a penny and now all these years later I will never have to.
The US Government was never intended to be as big and powerful as it has become. It's much like elephantitus of the testes. Once they become a certain size they become a burden unto themselves.

Yet, you undoubtedly voted for John Kerry, a man who married into the 200 million dollar Heinz fortune.

Socialism: The unshakeable belief that nobody with wealth did anything to deserve it.

And Abbey, believe me...I'm in the same boat as you. I've been paying into the great government slush fund for almost 30 years myself. However, since I already know I'll never see a dime of it, I see no problem with just ending it. What's the difference? Does the expression "throwing good money after bad" mean anything? I haven't counted social security when doing my retirement calculations for a long, long time. At least you rightly called Social Security what it is: a Ponzi scheme. When a Ponzi scheme is discovered, do we keep it going long enough to allow the victims to steal from others so they can get their money back? Or do we just end it?

Regardless, if the country goes bankrupt, your entitlements are gone anyway. That was my main point.

Debt is a politician's wet dream: a way to tax those that haven't even been born yet.

I can relate to everything you just said...except the whole "1000-1500 calories a day" part.

But seriously, there were times in my young adulthood that I didn't have enough to eat, sometime with several days between very meager meals. Though you wouldn't know (or even vaguely suspect ) it now, that's the truth.

And yet somehow, it still didn't turn me into a Democrat.

I'd rather starve on my own two feet than feast on my knees (wow...that sounded really weird).
