Just get some Sufix BRAID, and use the mono for backing.

Lizards, you can't use braid for everything. Maybe the mono is to go on a cranking rod. mono is, IMO, the only line for cranking.\
So, Buzz, what rod you putting this on anyways? BB

This is a Spinnerbait Rod, by the way. It is a Falcon Low Rider 6'7'' MH Bass Spin, spinning. Great rod for spinnerbaits; little too tough for crankbaits though, especially the smaller ones like the Sub Warts, Bandit 100's, etc.

Well since It's for spinnerbaits I'd absolutley downsize the line. I use 8lb for spinnerbaits. I also prefer throwing spinnerbaits on a baitcaster, but I do think the line size is your problems. Try 8 or 10lb and see if it makes a difference, that will be better for spinnerbaits anyways.

i've used braid on crankbaits and spinnerbaits for 2 years and have not had any problems at all, however i carry many rods that have mono that also have cranks and blades on em. Main reason for that is experimenting with dif geared quantums, I've had the same 5 baitcasters (quantum) and same shimano citica since 1995. all work just fine and some have braid , some dont. I know that the mono stretches and benefits ya in the impact of the hit, but i want to do my own field testing, thats 1/2 the fun of fishing on your own.

I'm glad there are others here who fell in love with the castability of Sufix Elite.
I actually never go higher than 8lb. test on my spinning reels.

The biggest problem with braid is many times. People put heavy line on rods that can't take the stresses of the line your using. Not including damaging guides & what not. Follow the rods recomendations on poundage. You rod will last allot longer. Thatz why i cry when i hear 65 pound line on a allstar rod rated at 20 max.

Moose, that 65 lb. test is only equal to 17 lb. test. So technically, that is still in the ratings, although it does make quite a sound!

That's another reason I keep my drag backed off on my reels spooled with braid. It softens the impact of the braid to the rod. I broke a couple of rods early on by setting the hook too hard with the braid.

Ahh.....
I was thinking that if it was the same diameter, all was the same. After thinking about it though, I guess it does make sense. Braid doesn't stretch, so I guess it does put more of a strain on the rod. What can I do to make sure I'm not putting too much strain on my fishin' rod? -Buzz |

Running a heavy poundage line on a rod will void all warranty's on all those high price rods that you own. I don't care what company that made it. Now if you don't care fine with me.

So you're saying to change the line to the reccommended line weight? For example, my Flippin' Stick is rated for 15-35 lb., would 40 lb. Power Pro be OK?

I don't care what your fishing for. Use your drag thatz what itz for. I caught an 80lb blue cat on 17lb mono last year. I was fishing the Missouri river. Trust me i have way more debri than you have. Cars, bodies, sunken boats, tree's & brush & i have an aggressive current to contend with. Over powering a rod is usually a sign sombody does'nt understand the use of his DRAG.
