Yep, this pretty much explains me too. It scares me how much I am interested sometimes!

hey guys and gals, this "fishing addiction", is what we are. like the poem sys. besides.. where would YOU be today if not for the thrill of this sport. me, well i would be in jail, single, and totaly miserable. i don't put fishing at the top of my list, that is gods place. then there is my wife and family. then there is my health, then there is fishing and football. (good thing they are in different seasons, lol.) but like sooo many of us here, fishing is part of my health, it is a time to go out and think aout my life and all the problems i have, and helps me make the right (or sometimes wrong) discions. but on the water, where it is quiet and all. i can really think about everything and relax. if that is an addiction... well give me more of it!!!

Well said, Bama. I was talking to a good buddy of mine the other day who does a lot of fishing. In fact, he had a pond on some property years back that he took from a micro-perch factory to a decent bass fishery. He asked a friend of his if he'd like to fish it one day. This poor fellow told my friend that, unless he's competing in a tournament, he doesn't enjoy fishing anymore-- Not even for "fun". I found that kinda sad, not in a judgemental way, but in that that dude lost the "grace" of it all. Sounds sorta sappy, but what else can you call the experience of fishing?

Again, well said.

I've never attempted to put that feeling into words. You all did such an amazing job, I don't have a lot to contribute. The poem was real nice. Bama was also pretty exact in what he said. I enjoy the contentment I feel with life when I'm on the water, the passion for that record breakin' hawg, and the fear when I'm leaving the water that the big one was just one cast away. Take care and good fishing!

It is everything that is missing in day to day life, peace, a connection to nature, legal wallops of adrenaline from time to time and quality time with like-minded people...

I fished trout as a young man with my Dad and hadn't fished for probably 10 -15 years when, 2 years ago, out of the clear blue my 7 year old asked to go fishing - Thank god he did we get so much positive out of it as a family!

I heard Woo Daves say on TV once that each day you spend on the water adds a day to your life. I actually believe it. If it's true some of us will inherit the earth.

Bama, no question your children can give you perspective on what is really important... they can make you crazy too. Fishing with my two oldest is probably my favorite time we spend together!
