Don't really worry about the momo/braid sizes. I tie a leader on everything! Try using the Albright Knot. I have found it to be the absolute best and I NEVER break at the knot.

I've use braid almost exclusively on all my baitcaster and spinning reels, and all but my Spinnerbait and Crankbait setups use a leader. I use a Albright knot to attach the two lines together, and haven't had any issues with this knot either breaking or cutting through the leaders.

I know Joel will disspute me on this because we have bumped heads on this question before, but I say a knot is your weakest point between the line and the hook, so my question is Why have two. If your going to tie 15 lb fluro to 30 braid you just weakened your line by 15 pounds. If you are going to tie a 15# floro or mono , why not just use that line. Joel said he has braid tied on every rod, but I think braid is not useful in every application, I fish in dingy mostly, so tying a leader is not an issue with me but I have Braid on 3 rods , fluro on 1 and mono on the rest. I agree with some of the others just tye straight to the jig.

I can't find this knot, but it is something that i like better then uni-uni.
fold the fluoro line into two (don't press the loop you just made). With the braid loop around the fluoro 9~11 times down, and back 9-11 times up, leaving the loop on the end. Put the braid tip through the loop and pull the braid. Make sure the lines are lubed, otherwise it will damage the lines . the braid should look very neat (almost like a clinch knot). Trim both ends and voila . I use this knot on saltwater and freshwater. Have caught huge monsters on this knot without a problem. If the knot is tied wrong, the line will come off. Make sure u test if the knots are very secured |
