BB, I had a pair of wide, flat pliers-part of a set-I drilled a hole through one side and used it to pop the pin out. Then I realized I could simply remove the spool from the reel, fill a small cup with lighter fluid and soak the bearing still attached to the spool. No fuss, no mess, and no damage. You can even soak the whole spool if need be-the lighter fluid won't hurt it.

I did, BB-looks good, but if I can avoid taking something apart more than I need to I will. I'm world class at messing stuff up trying to take it apart when I shouldn't or have no clue what I am doing, which is most of the time . Regarding Simple Green-I wouldn't use it on bearings, but it is my weapon of choice for cleaning the other parts. For that it is fantastic.
