I can't believe that anyone would have a problem with a law requiring them to provide ID to vote. Anyone who has the legal right to vote has an acceptable ID, anyone who doesn't have the right to vote doesn't have an ID, it seems pretty cut and dry. But only someone who is running out of weak and pathetic excuses would even try to spin that into a racist issue. I am pretty damn sure that come election time there will be black, Hispanic, Asian, Canadian, and hell maybe even white people show up at the polls to vote, and do it legally. So your arguement about it being a racist issue is about as sorry as they get.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure,The creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy,Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.."-- Winston Churchill
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read: Unfortunately, most voters (ESPECIALLY THE ELECTED) don't know this: 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. While not my own words they are articulated better than what I could have done. I also think that as people argue about the past and present, which is important, they need to think about how the future generations are going deal with it, and for me it is a scary thought, especially since I'm a member of that generation. And as liberals continue to corrupt and indocrinate students I worry that even if the current voters can begin the path forward, will the next voters be able to continue, or will we follow Europe's example. This country was great because Americans made it that way through the Constitution and a system called capitalism. If we do not go back to our old ways, there will be no USA to make great again, just another Socialist failure like Greece. But unlike Greece, the rest of the world will watch us burn with smiles on their faces. |

Regarding Mr. Obama. I didn't vote for him, not because of his race but because his socialist agenda worried me. However I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Well he has proven to me and the country that he didn't deserve even that. When he told his buddy Mr. Holder not to to prosecute the Black Panthers for voter intimidation and when he thought it wise to drop all his g's when talking to the Congressional Black Caucus and on and on and on. At that point the content of his character came into serious question. Further (to me) he was no longer an African American or Negro he had sunk to the level of just another ni****. If that word offends you just envision Cris Rock saying it and I'm sure it'll be alright then and you can slap your knee at the clever humor. So, back to paragraph one. I don't have a problem with African Americans. But I do have a problem with the very phrase African American. If Dr. King was the messiah of the civil rights movement and the sane voice of equality, then I think judging someone by the content of their character should be the SOLE measure of a man. The civil war has been over for a long time, no one alive today has ever been a slave or owned one. I think it's time we just moved on. It's institutions like the Congressional Black Caucus , Naacp, Black History Month, BET, Miss Black America, Affirmitave Action and all the rest that just won't let it go. Poor pitiful black people. They could easily get a good education and stay married and raise a family and teach their children solid values and teach them a good work ethic and be good role models for them and be a part of the true American Dream if only their great great grandparents hadn't benn brought over here to pick cotton by the evil white man. Give me a break. |

I can't believe this keeps going and going and going and going........ Can we all agree that no matter who wins this up coming election we the people of this country are screwed. Obama has been no better than anyone else in the last 20 years and Mitt Romney will ship all the jobs he can overseas. They are both pathetic. If you can't agree with that then you are just a Republican or Democratic homer. Once again i will do a write in vote for Penn Jillette.

Yeah, we're screwed because nobody has the guts to start telling the people with outstretched hands "no". Political suicide.

I was going to bring that up Boogie, but I didn't want to get accused of trying to prove I was smarter than everyone else.

There are 2 subjects which should never be discussed. Religion and politics. No matter what points you make in the argument these are two very emotional and personal subjects which only result in everyone losing their tempers and some very harsh words said.
After all this discussion and name calling has anyones mind been changed? No I doubt it very seriously. |

Guess where the real problem is?
--Income taxes include Individual and Corporate taxes
Federal expenditures often exceed Revenue by temporary borrowings. Initially the U.S. Federal Government was financed mainly by customs(tariffs Average Tariff Rate % = Customs Revenue/ cost of Imports (goods). Other taxes collected are: Income Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Inheritance, Tariffs—often called Customs or duties on imports, etc. Income Taxes began in 1913 with the passage of 16th Amendment. Payroll taxes are Social Security and Medicare taxes Payroll Taxes began in 1940. Many Federal government Excise taxes are assigned to Trust Funds and are collected for and “dedicated” to a particular Trust. Sources: Historical Statistics of the United States 1789-1945[7] Bicentennial Edition Historical Statistics of the United States Series 1790-1970[8] U.S. Census Trade Statistics[9] Whitehouse Historical Tables 1940-2016[10] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tariffs...States_history That means something coming here from china is taxed less than 2%. In turn something sent from US to china is taxed at a rate of at least 25%, more for like cars, ect. If you follow the supplied chart....It's not the Republicans nor the Democrates because it's simply the POLITICIANS, PERIOD! They all are cutting tarriffs! See when the constitution was signed the Govt. and all it's spending came from people bringing crap from elsewhere ....NOT ANY MORE! Another little tidbit to think about. 46% of all Americans pay NO Federal income taxes. http://crooksandliars.com/karoli/tru...pay-income-tax The next time you hear someone sneer about all the deadbeats in this country who don't pay income taxes, you might want to suggest that if they earned more, they'd pay more. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THOSE THAT CONTEND THAT ALL POOR ARE DEADBEATS....maybe not. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THOSE WHO CONTEND THAT ALL RICH PEOPLE ARE CROOKS...maybe not. Bottom line is that beating up on one another solves ABSOLUTLY NOTHING! Together, rich and poor, Dems and Repubs and anyone in between we can FIX this. Compromise IS NOT THROWING IN THE TOWEL, it's just GOOD BUSINESS! Another thing to think about. Ignore the title and please read. http://ows.edb.utexas.edu/site/its-m...ctors-consider YES I am aware that I promised to stay out of this train wreck but when we AMERICAN CITIZENS start acting like POLITICIANS everyone LOSES! I love debates and I lose enough of them to know that my opinion still counts even if I lose. But that doesn't make ME or my OPPONENT a loser or a winner...it makes us ALL more informed and maybe even learn something new. MAKES US INTELLIGENT Name calling, verbal slights refering to opponent negatively shows one thing and one thing only...IGNORANCE DEBATE ON ANGLERS BUT PLEASE BE CIVIL AND RESPECTFULL. NO-ONE HAS ALL THE ANSWERS but if we listen to one another, between ALL AMERICANS I am POSITIVE we can find all the answers.....I hope!

Comprimise is part of what got us into this problem, sometimes people need to be ignored, because wrong is wrong.
And if we ignore our problems and avoid them how can we expect to fix them? |

That being: American workers earning (being paid) more is a major part of the issue driving corportate profit down, USA made product costs up and jobs lost overseas. That includes not just wages, but benifits. American workers have already priced themselves out of world, as well as domestic, markets. I am going to stop here as the economy, both domestic and world, is far too complicated for less than a book. But paying the American worker more is NOT the solution to our domestic economic problems and certainly cannot compete as a solution to the world's economic issues but only drive it deeper into turmoil. |

From Roanoke, VA yesterday - the latest blub about Obamanomics. Taken directly from the White House transcript of his comments at a fund raiser. The pandering is beyond belief, and this is just too unbelievable that someone in his postition would say this. Someone really needs to grab him by the ears, shake him forcefully and stand him in a corner somewhere with a sock in his mouth for the next 6 months.

I think I'll have a chat with my boss today. I mean, I should get a raise. After all, he didn't build this business...government did. I'm sure that will work out well for me.
Bruce, it's sad to say, but there are millions of drones in this country who believe him...even though he's never run so much as a lemonade stand (though I'm sure he's probably had a few shut down for code violations). He won't be happy until he's got them storming the castle with torches and pitchforks. I used to give him credit for his skill at demagoguery, but I've realized it's just not that hard to manipulate the stupid...you just have to lack a soul to live with yourself for doing it.

I'd like to change 'compromise' to 'finding common ground'.
Debate on fellow anglers.....

I didn't hear it, I read the transcript of the "speech" though and it left me totally in disbelief that an individual in his position would utter such insulting crap and he insutlted Americans with total disregard to demographics. As I said he does not give credit to ANYONE that works.

Little Akio from Japan
Little Akio
The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American History. Who said 'Give me Liberty , or give me Death'?" She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Akio, a bright foreign exchange student from Japan , who had his hand up: "Patrick Henry, 1775," he said. "Very good! -- Who said, 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth'?" Again, no response except from Little Akio: "Abraham Lincoln, 1863." "Excellent!" said the teacher continuing, "Let's try one a bit more difficult -- Who said, 'Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country'?" Once again, Akio's was the only hand in the air and he said: "John F. Kennedy, 1961." The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed of yourselves, Little Akio isn't from this country and he knows more about our history than you do." She heard a loud whisper: "F_ _ k the Japs." "Who said that? -- I want to know right now!? she angrily demanded. Little Akio put his hand up, "General MacArthur, 1945." At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke.' The teacher glares around and asks, 'All right! -- Now who said that?" Again, Little Akio says, "George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991." Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? -- Suck this!" Little Akio jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!" Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, "You little $hit! -- If you say anything else -- I'll kill you!" Little Akio frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Michael Jackson to the children testifying against him, 2004." The teacher fainted. As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh ****, We're screwed!" Little Akio said quietly, "The American people, November 4, 2008."

Who creates infrastructure? Who educates workers? Who creates and maintains a legal system? I could keep going on, but I'm sure you get my point...so business, not only small business exists in a vacuum?
By the way, could I have a link to where you read the whole transcript of the President's speech at the Roanoke Fire House #1, on July 13th? Last edited by Dogmatic; 07-18-12 at 04:54 AM. |
