Default Your MVR: most valuable rod.

Just curious as to which rod would you say was your MVP (or MVR) rod this past fishing season? Looking for a specific rod (brand, series, model, etc). Could be for any reason: caught the most fish on it, really enjoyed fishing a particular rod, or found a rod that could throw just about anything. But most importantly a rod that had you reaching for it more than any others, for whatever reason.

6'6" MH Fast XPS performance graphite. It is a discontinued rod i bought off of craigslist. It is my new T-Rig rod. The sensitivity on it is amazing. Then discovered the fast tip isnt quite as fast as they rate it. close to being a moderate tip, and it soon became my favorite jerk bait rod too.

Which one was your's Dobber? I gotta say I really enjoyed my Tigerod I bought last year. It is a 7' Med-Mod Fast I throw crankbaits with. I didn't catch that many fish on it, but I really love how the rod feels. It was my first custom rod built on a G. Loomis Northfork blank. By purchasing it from Tim, and getting to know him, he helped lead me to the rod building monkey's lair, and oh, what an expensive place it can be. What about you Dobber, which one is your's?

Most of mine are "valuable" as they're mostly the same brand and model (former top-of-the-line). Of them all my "favorite", "most versitile" and therefore most "valuable" (intrinsic) to me is the 6'9" M/H Kistler LTX.

I've said before I really like the 6'9" length for giving me the accuracy of the slightly shorter 6'6" rods and the casting distance of a longer 7'0" rod. A perfect blend of the best attributes of the two rods. It's the one rod I have the most of (3). I use them for weightless Senko, worms, pitching plastics is tight quarters, spinnerbaits and chatterbait. I could fish just about any lure with this rod, while it would not be my first choice for throwing baits with treble hooks, or finesse plastics, I could if I had too.

So, I guess I would consider this my most valuable, for if I had to give up all my rods save one - this one would be the one I'd keep.

I'd have to say mine is my Dobyns 733C. I've really taken a liking to rods over 7' this summer. This particular one is a 7'3" MH F, but it is very slightly slower than fast action. I had a t-rigged senko tied on most of the year and caught more fish on this rod than any others. The action of this also makes it a great rod for long casting spinnerbaits. This is one of the most versatile rods I own, and I found myself reaching for this rods more than my other this year. We'll see how next year goes since I've got more than one Dobyns in my arsenal now.

Mine has to be a 7'MH Quantum Superlite for largemouth fishing on erie... awesome rod, and alot of big fish came on that rod this year. I use it for flipping and most of my big tournament keepers came on that rod this year.

When were are on Erie for smallies my 7' M/Moderate Quantum Superlite spinning rod gets the prize... dropshotting those smallies sure is fun!

6'9" ML Abu Garcia Vendetta. The first time I had this bad boy out was when I was at my family's cabins in MN. I was primarily fishing a flickshake rig with it and caught atleast 100 bass on it that week. It was sensitive enough for me to feel the little tick when a bass hit my finesse worm on the drop.

Mine was a Falcon Bucoo fot light tex-rig.
I also liked my Kistler carbon steel for throwing light crankbaits
Near the end of the year I started throwing jerkbaits on my Vendetta and had blast

7' MH F St. Croix Legend Extreme is my favorite rod.

However, I probably logged the most hours on my 6'9" ML XF Vendetta. Drop shotting was my favorite method this past year.

My MVR this year was my shallow cranking stick. It is a 7' MM built on a Lamiglas composite blank. I'm pretty sure it accounted for more fish than any other one rod.

I don't really have one "go to" rod. As they all serve the purpose of fishing and less re-tying. And it depended on what I learned pre fishing and what the fish wanted. But I will say I did use a Quantum KVD 7'M cranking rod for tossing traps a lot.

Well as a fly fishermen on the Missouri River it would be my 10wt. 15ft Orvis shooting Star Spey Rod. Those 80 & 100 ft. cast have changed everything for me. I was pretty use to my 8wt redington. But there is no comparison to using a spey rod. The longer your line is in the water & more soak time equals more fish.

Its always the same rod. Like an MVP, you are looking at the one you cant do without, not necesarily the one that on the best day landed the fish.

In my case it is a modified gander mtn 6'11" light weight baitcasting rod that goes everywhere. I say this despite relying extensivly on the new MHX 7' power rod I used almost exclusivly in florida, because there have been long stretch of time where I didnt need it at all.

Hands down my go to rod of the 2010 fishing season was the new Boyd Duckett Micro Magic bait casting rod. its a 7'3'' medium heavy rod that is unbelievably light weight. I bet i caught 90% of my bass using this rod while dragging a jig or rig. If your looking for a rod, try out a Duckett, I was kinda skeptical at first but I'm a believer now.

Spinning rod hands down would be my 6'8" Med Xfast carbonlite. A great rod for shakey heads, small weightless plastics, drop shotting etc. As for casting it was my Lowrider 6'7" MH Xfast used for small jigs, senkos t-rigged and wacky style etc. Both rods very light in weight and good sensitivity. Both were new for me for the season and both held up very well.

My MVR this year was my 6'9" MH F Carrot Stix. I have it paired with a revo premier and it makes for one light and balanced setup. I found myself reaching for it in allot of different situations and it came through with flying colors.

I have caught more fish this year on a Berkley Lightning Rod, than any other. A distant second would be my BPS Bionic Blade. However, next year, I think it will be a 7' Lamiglass Excell...

St. Croix Premier 7' M (dunno the model #),

That's the one so far, just cause it'll probably be the most useful this coming spring.

That's a really good way of thinking about it Billy.

I'd be hard pressed to say what is my favorite rod, but if I were stuck with just one rod, I think it would be a 7' MH-fast action rod.

I paid $12.99+tax at Academy. It is my spinnerbait throwing rod of choice. The brand is Shimano 7' M fast action. I've caught several 6,7,8,and 9 pounders with it. Great deal, great rod.

I broke mine this past summer. It was an early model Kistler LTA. It already had about 2 inches broke off the tip. I loved that rod. Used it for a lot of different things. I have a newer model of the same rod but it doesn't measure up to the old one.
