This is the first announcement for the Western NY Kayak Fishing Association 1st Annual Heroes on the Water Benefit Kayak Fishing Tournament to be held on the morning of Saturday, 25 September 2010 at Waterloo Harbor Campground and Fuzzy Guppies Human Powered Watercraft (official sponsor) in Waterloo, NY, on the Seneca River. This Western NY Kayak Fishing Association event is being held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Waterloo Harbor Chili Cook Off.
The proceeds of this tournament will be benefiting Heroes On the Water, a non-profit organization that assists veterans’ rehabilitative programs by offering kayak fishing trips and adaptive paddling training for our nations wounded warriors. The format is catch-photograph, and release and categories will be for Bass and Northern Pike. RV spots, tent camping, and cabins are available. More details to follow, entry fee, prizes, etc., ASAP. Good luck, sounds like a fun event in support of a great cause.
I'm a little puzzled by the date of the event, but hey, what do I know? I'm too old for that cold-weather stuff and, besides, I own a canoe, not a kayak. ![]() ![]()

Here are the latent details of this event. I hope that some of you can make it over to support this charity event and share camaraderie of fellow kayak anglers on the water. There is a chili cook-off after the event, so if any of you are chefs, feel free to join in that event as well.
Entry fee: $10 (All proceeds go to Heroes on the Water non-profit org.) http://www.heroesonthewater.org/ Time: Registration begins at 6am and goes until 9am). Tournament fishing starts at 7am and goes until noon. Location. Waterloo Harbor Campground and Fuzzy Guppies Human Powered Watercraft, Waterloo, NY. http://www.waterlooharbor.com Tournament categories: Longest Bass and longest Northern Pike as determined from submitted digital photo using a unique tournament identifier - Catch, photograph, and release. Prizes: This is primarily a charity Benefit for Heroes on the Water,and prizes (tbd) exceeding the value of entry fee will be awarded to the winners in each category. Sponsors: Waterloo Harbor Campground and Fuzzy Guppies Human Powered Watercraft
