Anybody have good info on Smith Mountain Lake in Va?
Have a tornament at the end of the month, ive never fished it, assume it will be prespawn for the tornament. Wondering what colors, baits, even areas of the lake that are good? Anything would help THank YOU! |

Secondary points and finesse worms worked the last BFL tournament I fished down there. Definitely prespawn fishing. Most people head to the creeks at the lower end of both rivers. I like some of the main lake coves close to Water Wheel on the Roanoke.
There are a few other guys on here that fish it way more than I do. |

I guess you would say that is my home lake. I don't do tournaments. If you love docks and rip rap you will be in heaven. My experience (and this is just mine) green pumpkin is the best color. I do a lot of dock pounding and the Jeff Kreit big bite worms, green pumpkin centipedes work well. If the wind comes up grab a spinnerbait and hang on. I had my best trip ever when it was so windy you had to stay on the trolling motor. They have had some 100 plus boat tournaments coming out of the park area the last couple of weeks. I don't know what won it but i did here from a reliable source that the jerkbait fishing was pretty good.
good luck |
