How to Mount Object to Deck?
I've got a 2009 Tracker TXW 175 and am looking to install a couple things to the deck: namely, some rod holders and maybe a cup holder.
What material is the deck under the carpet? And how does one properly install these items onto the deck? I'd greatly appreciate any advice. |

Predrill slowly as not to wrap carpet around bit.
Never drill deeper than needed. In fact one guy I know wraps masking tape around bit so only a 1/4 inch of the bit shows. Capt Mike

Use a razor blade & put a small slice in the carpet where you're going to drill

I would pay the extra money for stainless steel screws.

Agree with Mark wholeheartedly. I only use stainless steel fasteners on my boat. They are far more expensive, but you don't have to worry about them rusting. They look nice too.
