Had a late Christmas :) Check it out
OK, so I got no fishing gear for Christmas. But my dad was doing business over at Singapore, where fishing is apparently big. They have a whole road of tackle shops (Beach Road... sounds like heaven eh?) And my fantastic father picked me up some stuff. Here are a few pics
The old Abu G... I've had this for a while. to be replaced by this Never heard of the slade before, but it looks spankin hot and is quite smooth despite the fact that it only has 2 bearings. A pretty nice reel. They spooled it at the tackle shop there with this stuff... Never heard of this either. But it is pretty thin and strong. I will be using it for spring, just to see... If it works out, fine, if not I'll use it as backing for my beloved cajun redcast anyone heard of that brand? Then a jerkbait. I must say, it looks pretty good. Seems like a choice I would have made. up close and personal: And finaly, the shimano mounted on the st. croix. A beautiful couple: All this, and I did just order from bearpaws baits Christmas did come a tad late but I don't mind And god do I love my dad... who else would buy me fishing equipment while on a business trip in Singapore, of all places? Merry Christmas

Nice tackle pranoy,
you'll love that gold crankbait for just under the surface fishing over vegations, it wont go deep enough to get in the moss so bad..looks like a rapala shallow bait to me, even tho its a Boomer from new zealand, I am sure it will catch some lips! |

Doc, Nice stuff, I like that crank bait as well.Like JB said, that is a shallow running crankbait, great for running over top of weedbeds. I have never heard of the brand before , but that doesn't mean anything.I bought a brand called Nil Master several years ago, It is one of the best jerkbaits I have ever used.I also buy alot of Japanese lures from Singapore. They are big into fishing over there.P N J

Ah, alright thakns for the imput guys. This crankbait was quite interesting, I haven't used one with this lip shape. Then again I've never caught a fish on a hardbait... I think. But yeah, in the snot moss infested pond I fish this is sure to be a winner I should fish Singapore sometime...

You mentioned the "Slade" reel. I love Shimanos but never heard of a Slade reel. However, I have heard of a band from the 80's called Slade. I think they sang the song "Run, Run, away".

That is a newer version of the Slade, kind of hard to find but well worth the price. I have the older slade 2000 and boy is it a hoss. Ive landed two 28"+ specs and a bunch of rat reds using it. Put some powerpro on that reel and get twice the capacity and more fighting power. Its really a no frills workhorse reel but its still extremely smooth.

wow, thanks for the info adam. I think this reel will be excellent for how I fish.
Dodge, you are very lucky. I have pmed him a few times and can tell that he is an absolutely fantastic person. I'd love to fish with him.
