Anyone have any experience yet with this new line from Spiderwire? Braided line that sinks like fluorocarbon..... looks like it would be great for shallow cranking in stained water.... Mike Iaconelli has a video on youtube talking about it and demonstrating the sink rate of the line. Appears to sink just as fast as fluorocarbon.... seriously thinking about getting some of this.....
Word has it that the new Sufix 832 line also sinks... but very slowly.... ???? |

Sufix 832 does sink. In tests I've seen, it floats due to the surface tension of the water, but once submerged, it does sink slowly.
But when I'm fishing shallow crankbaits, I don't want a line that sinks, or even a thin diameter line. I use 12-14lb mono for shallow cranking because I usually want them to run as shallow as they can. BB

Unless you have a super limber rod that you are trying to use for shallow cranking, I'd go with mono over braid.
However, I'm super interested in the Fluoro-braid for my spinning rod applications. I'm thinking that it would be perfect with a fluoro leader. |

Why would someone choose this line over 832? Because it sinks faster?

That would be a good line for fishing grass and pads.
