finally landed 1 on a Rat-L trap,but
of course it wasnt the bass i was hoping for, instead it was a 7-1/2lb carp...
how is this even possible? never thought of a carp chasing down a lure thought they were more or less bottom feeders, and i was moving the trap at a pretty good clip.. before it surfaced i just thought i had a large bass, possibly a walleye, never suspected a Carp |

I wouldn't expect a carp either but at least you broke the ice.

I have carp hit my frogs all the time...it is frustrating and annoying! I've even had one follow it and hit it multiple times, fooled me multiple times too. My initial thought was, "this freaking bass must trying to injure my frog well enough to not have to slam it, slow the retrieve and "jerk" it around likes it injured!" Only until it followed my frog out of the lilies and I saw it did I realize what it was. I was dumbfounded to say the least. So I would say I'm not real surprised, but it is surprising.
Congrats on the 1st catch with a Rat L Trap though! The best Rat L Trap action I've ever had was on Grand Lake when the white bass start running. That's a good time... |

I've foul-hooked a lot of carp, but can only recall two that actually bit a crankbait.
