I have noticed the same thing as you Kevin. Alot of reels that I have looked at that others are fishing are set with the spool tension knob really high, and almost no brakes at all. On my reels, (PQ's and Carbonlites, both with dual brakes) I like the tension loose, and 2 centrifugal brakes on with the magnetic brakes somewhere around 4-8 range.

That makes sense Kevin, I would add though to make sure to crank that tension knob down if you are letting your buddy try your reel and he isn't used to it. I need to go through all mine and make sure they are set properly too, thanks for the tip.
