Default New Outfit, First Cast, Nice Bass!!

First off, I wanted to say howdy to all as I am new to this forum.
I've been saving my penny's for a while before purchasing a Helium LTA rod and a Daiwa Alphas reel. Light, sweet, but taxing on the pocket book.
Went to the lower lagoon at Castaic on Sat. night at about 11:30 PM with my regular fishing buddy. Stopped at a length of "beach" for the first cast.
With my new "Hawg Killer' in hand with a 4" Texas rigged craw, I proceeded to cast as far as *&#@ing possible. Splash down, feeding line as she went down. Reeled in the slack, jiggled the rig for a second or two then BAM!! I set the hook and felt the head shaking feeling we all crave like a heroin addict. After breaking the surface a few times and a few addaboys from my buddy, I reached down and lipped a 7.9lb LMB. After the digital scale and picture thing, I slid my new best friend into the water and watched it swim back into the blackness.
Buying a new outfit is great, the experience I had is why I Bass fish in the first place, you never know what will happen every time you cast. Bass fishing is like sex, you don't have to be good at it to enjoy it.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
P N J, I plan on hangin out for a lon time to come.
I'm fortunate to live 20 min. from Castaic Lake and fish 90% of the time at night. My largest LMB to date is 9.8 lbs. Still waiting to break into the 10 lb club. My 2 regular fishin buddies have both caught bass over 10. One caught a 13.6, the other a 12.4. All verified on a digital scale and all released unharmed. We've pulled 20 lb carp and slab crappie out as well. Earlier this spring, I landed a 14lb catfish on 6lb test fishing a 4 inch worm Carolina rigged plastic worm. Man what a fight!
When I do break into the 10lb club, believe me, you'll all hear about it.

Nice, Congrats Man!!! I am pretty much outta the rod buying phase for awhile. 2 fenwicks, a Qunatum, and Reels really catch up to the wallet. So now, I focus only on tackle. After Christmas, I can focus on rods again. Christmas, I am gettin a pontoon boat, and some hunting stuff, and any money left over, is getting me a spinning setups.

Welcome to the Asylum. The unofficial Bassaholics Anonymous site LOL. Wonderful fish, for any cast let alone the First cast on a new rig. Have fun and enjoy the site. But be aware this site can be addicting, suprised we don't have the FDA breathing down our necks yet about the addiction thing.
