I believe braided line works a little better for a spinning reel rather than mono becaue it lays on the spool better and doesnt "coil" up.

No matter what if you buy braid buy POWER PRO and braid has a smaller diameter than mono so u can get what ever lb test you want i would go for like 12-25 lb test IMO but its all up to you whatever size you like cause it wont break.

Btw you can get power pro at wal-mart or bass pro.

heres a link:
http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...rTarget=browse

remember its smaller diameter so if you get 12lb test itll be the size of 6lb mono

Braid line works excellently on both types. I personally recommend SpiderWire STEALTH rather than Power Pro. I did use both of them! I believed that SpiderWire STEALTH is more smooth-casting than Power Pro, and also VERY QUIET. Honestly Power Pro is kinda noisy.

Check their website: www.spiderwire.com

Much more details, and also a very good looking site!

SW Stealth is an excellent braid. I really like this line.

I have also used Power Pro and I give it the slight edge over Stealth only because I like its "rounder" look. Performance from both I found equal in all aspects and both are priced about the same.

My last outing I caught a nice, fat pink salmon on a 30# spider wire top half tied to a 20# izorline backing. That fat salmon stripped my entire top half off and even pulled off some of my mono backing! So kudos to the Power Pro Braid.

Thank goodness I was using my Cardiff instead of my curado (my curado is similarly set up with 8# mono backing to 30# p-pro but the lines are held together with just a piece of tape. Definitely bass ready but NOT salmon worthy. hee hee)

I really like Fireline BUT I dont like it till it has been used a little while to get the newness out of it. Havent tried powerpro but am trying P-Line braided right now and have to say man is it noisy on a casting rod which just bugs the h@#$ outta me. Also since I build custom rods and do repairs I do know for a fact that the noisy braids are very rough on guides, therefore use flyline conditioning wax on your line no matter what braid you are using. It quites the line down, reduces friction, helps the line to float and to come through weeds better.

island should try it with a 3wt rod now that is fun.
fireline imo is fine if i was to put it on a spinning reel. i tend to palm my baitcaster and allow my finger to ride the line. every hook set will slice it open. i like calcutta ultra braid my self.

I've got spider wire on two low profile bait casters, firewire on two round baitcasters, power pro 10 and 50 on Spinning setups.
Like the power pro the best. I spray all of them with reelmagic.

Many folks use it a couple of times, and then think it's junk. You are absolutely correct it has a break-in time, just like braided lines. My preference for spinning is also Fireline, but in no more than 20lb test. I've found that the next jump up to 30lb test makes a big difference in diameter, and cuts way down on distance. Just form my experiences. Now "Fireline", not "Firewire" LOL, is a
FUSED line not a braided line. The only downside to Fireline, is if you get hung up you are hung up. I really don't know if I would reccommend it to someone shore fishing. You just can't break the stuff. And if you try to hard it can damged your rod if you are using the rod to try to get it free. But on the other hand that's why I love it so much, and of course the no memory

Thumbs up

Your right fireline not firewire. I guess I got my mixed all typed up.
You are also right about doing damage to rod if you get hung up, been there done that, broke my rod Should have known better. Now I use a small metal pipe that I carry in my vest, or a stick from the ground. I have also been known to wade after the lure, or just cut the line But you are correct and I should have mentioned the probelms in my other post. Thanks for the help

I spooled up one of the spinning reels with 20lb. Power Pro on Friday night and fished with it a bit on Saturday. I caught one on the other side of a bed of lilly pads. That stuf went right through it. I like it 100% better than the P-Line CXX (or something like that) I had on before. The P-Line didn't cast for crap. The PP is pretty noisy though.

It works good on a spinning reel. I would recommend 20 lb. Power Pro, it has the diameter of 8 lb. mono.

I will say it again............................. POWER PRO is the thing. I have used SW Stealth and over time it loses its shape and gets soft. I have used 4 dif. braids (Power Pro, Stealth, Stren Super Braid, and SW origional) and Power Pro is the best I have used. I am looking into trying a few more dif. braids but I have no way to get my hands on them. But Power Pro in the 20 pound test for spinning setups.
