Loomis NRX lure weight experiences
Hello there,
I’m seroiusly thinking about buying a G.Loomis NRX casting rod, especially I’m in love with the 804C JWR (6'8" Heavy, 5/16-3/4oz). Now, to the lucky guys that already own this one or another model from the heavy series: What do you think, the rod can take as maximum lure weight without loosing bait control (casting and underwater)? is it strictly 3/4oz or maybe more? I’m planning to use the rod on a river, so I’ll preferably use 5/8oz jig-heads, even 3/4oz if there’s stronger current. Also, I'm not sure if the rod is really river-suitable... as reel, I will use a shimano core 101. Many thanks for your experiences, David |

The lure weight ratings on rods are subjective, but I've rarely seen one that the assigned rating was way off. 3/4 jig plus a trailer should be no problem. As far as river fishing goes, this rod should be fine for jigging. If you want to bottom bounce or float fish longer rod will help you get managed your drifts for a more natural presentation.
